Purim at JIQ Boys’ Middle and High School was filled with simcha, laughter, and community spirit as students and staff came together to celebrate one of the most joyful days on the Jewish calendar. The halls of the school were alive with excitement as the boys embraced the mitzvot and traditions of Purim with enthusiasm and energy.
A Festive Start to the Chagiga
The day began with a lively Purim Chagiga, where the boys were treated to a gala breakfast featuring fresh bagels and fluffy pancakes. As students gathered around the tables with their friends and Rebbeim, the room buzzed with conversation and anticipation for the activities ahead.
Following breakfast, the boys participated in an exciting game of Kahoot, putting their knowledge and quick thinking to the test. The competition was fierce, with each grade hoping to claim victory. After several intense rounds, it was the 12th grade who came out on top, earning both bragging rights and cheers from their classmates.
Dancing, Ice Cream, and Purim Ruach

As the celebration continued, the spirit of Purim truly took over the room. Music filled the air as the boys joined together in spirited dancing, forming circles of energy and excitement that brought the entire school together. The joy of Purim was evident on every face.
During lunch, the boys enjoyed another special treat: ice cream, adding a sweet note to an already festive day. The combination of good food, music, and camaraderie created a celebration that perfectly captured the unique atmosphere of Purim at JIQ.
Giving Back: Mishloach Manot for the Teachers
True to the spirit of Purim, the boys also embraced the mitzvah of Mishloach Manot. Many students took part in preparing and delivering special packages for the teachers and staff, expressing their appreciation for the dedication and care that the faculty shows them throughout the year. These thoughtful gestures highlighted the sense of gratitude and respect that defines the JIQ community.

Bringing the Simcha to the Community
The celebration extended beyond the school walls. On Purim itself, the 12th grade students took the initiative to host a Purim Carnival at the Bukharian Jewish Community Center. Families and friends from across the community attended, enjoying the festive booths, games, and lively atmosphere created by the seniors.
The carnival was a tremendous success and a beautiful example of the leadership and responsibility shown by the graduating class. By organizing this event, the seniors helped bring the joy of Purim to the wider community, creating an experience that children and families alike will remember fondly.
Purim at JIQ was more than just a celebration—it was a powerful reminder of the values that the school strives to instill: joy in mitzvot, gratitude toward others, and a commitment to strengthening the community. From the Chagiga at school to the carnival at the BJCC, the boys embraced the spirit of the holiday with heart and enthusiasm.
