Roar of the Lions: A Season of Growth, Grit, and Greatness

The JIQ Lions Basketball Team has given the school community a season to remember—one defined by determination, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to representing JIQ with pride both on and off the court.

Under the leadership of Coach Chris, whose dedication to the team has gone far beyond the gym, the Lions have developed into a disciplined and cohesive unit. Through intense practices, detailed film sessions, and meaningful off-the-court guidance, Coach Chris has instilled in the players not only the fundamentals of basketball, but the mindset of champions.

Supporting the program behind the scenes is Mr. A, the team’s manager, who has worked tirelessly to coordinate game schedules, practices, and transportation, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and professionally throughout the season.

Each player contributed in his own way—whether through leadership, hustle, defense, scoring, or team spirit—creating a squad built on unity and resilience.

A Season to Remember: 8–2 and Playoff Bound

The Lions came out strong, going on an incredible seven-game winning streak that set the tone for the entire season. Their chemistry, discipline, and drive were evident in every game they played.

Despite facing a couple of tough losses mid-season, the team showed true character by bouncing back and finishing strong with a win in their final game, securing an impressive 8–2 record.

With this achievement, the JIQ Lions have officially clinched a spot in the playoffs. After Pesach, the team will return to the court with one clear goal: to compete for and win the championship.

More Than a Team

Beyond the scoreboard, what truly defines the Lions is their commitment to making a Kiddush Hashem at all times. Whether in victory or defeat, the players carry themselves with respect, sportsmanship, and dignity—representing not only their school, but their values.

This season would not have been possible without the support of many. A heartfelt thank you goes to Rabbi Niazoff, Mrs. Sassoon, and the entire administration and directors of JIQ for their investment of time, energy, and resources into building and sustaining the basketball program.

We also extend our gratitude to Hashem, to the parents, teachers, Coach Chris, Mr. A, and of course, to the players themselves, whose hard work and dedication continue to elevate the program.

As the Lions prepare for the playoffs, the entire JIQ community stands behind them with pride and excitement.

The roar has begun—and the best is yet to come.
