Is there life after death? BJW BOOK CLUB GETS PHILOSOPHICAL

“Today we had another incredible book club meeting,” wrote Elana Yuabov. Around 10 BJW Book Club members convened at the BJCC on April 14, 2026 to discuss “Secret of Secrets” by Dan Brown of DaVinci Code fame. “What a conversation it turned out to be!” exclaimed Yuabov on facebook.

“We explored everything from…how we think and talk about death…to the legend of the Golem of Prague. So many deep, thought-provoking and sometimes unexpected directions—exactly what makes our discussions so special.”

Yuabov continued: “We were truly impressed by the book—how much it makes us reflect, question and learn something new.”

Elana Yuabov manages a Facebook group“BJW—Bukharian Jewish Women”, which is where member Irina Aronova, a banker and also a reader, proposed to create a book club for our members. Yuabov decided to co-lead the book club, called BJW Book Club, with her.

“Since launching in March 2022, almost 50 women have joined us virtually, weighing in on our book choices over WhatsApp, while about 15 members regularly attend meetings in person. We started our meetings over Zoom but now meet monthly in person at the Bukharian Jewish Community Center thanks to Yosef Khaimov who has provided us with a beautiful space,” said Yuabov.

The next book club meeting is on May 19th where they will discuss “Positivity Bias” and “Every Last One.”
