Kibbutz Be'eri to Reopen July 2027

ISRAEL

After years of displacement following the devastating October 7, 2023 attack, the residents of Kibbutz Be’eri have received the news they have long awaited: a confirmed homecoming date.

In its May-June email update, Kibbutz Be’eri officially announced that July 31, 2027 will mark the community’s return to its rebuilt home. By that date, two newly constructed neighborhoods are expected to be ready for occupancy, and renovation of existing homes is slated for completion. Essential community institutions — including the dining hall and facilities for education, health, and welfare — are also projected to be operational in time for residents’ arrival.

Community leaders acknowledge that the road home carries both hope and heartache. While anticipation and excitement run high, there remains uncertainty about who will ultimately return. The question of returnees is described as sensitive and complex, and is being handled with care. Nevertheless, those close to the process believe that a large and significant majority of residents intend to come back.

On the reconstruction front, the project is progressing on schedule. This month’s featured development is the new Multi-Clinic Complex, which has crossed a major threshold: the completion of the site preparation phase. Preparatory work included demolition of the old parking lot, infrastructure relocation, site grading, and the installation of perimeter fencing. Foundation drilling and contractor works have now formally commenced, marking the official start of construction.

For the residents of Be’eri, the countdown to July 2027 is more than a construction timeline—it is the promise of home.
