New York, NY — The Congress of Bukharian Jews of the USA, together with the World Bukharian Congress, has officially launched its annual Kimcha D’Pischa campaign, a vital initiative dedicated to supporting Bukharian Jewish families in need ahead of the Passover holiday.
This year, the campaign aims to assist over 6,000 families, primarily in Israel and also within the United States, many of whom are facing significant financial hardship due to the ongoing war and its economic impact. With many families experiencing loss of income and instability, the need for communal support has never been more urgent.

The campaign was launched during a Sunday morning gathering hosted at the home of President Chagit Sofiev Leviev, with her husband Gavriel Sofiev, where community leaders came together in a powerful show of unity. During the event, attendees pledged their support and formed fundraising groups to help reach the campaign’s goal.
The central moment of the gathering was a live Zoom address by Mr. Lev Leviev, joined by supporters from around the world. Participants were given a unique opportunity to hear directly from Mr. Leviev, who spoke about the significance of the campaign and the urgency of supporting families during this challenging time.
Mr. Leviev, who has stood behind and matched this campaign for the fifth consecutive year, reaffirmed his deep commitment to the cause. In his remarks, he emphasized that his mission is to inspire a culture of giving, encouraging others to take part and partner in supporting those in need, and to strengthen the sense of shared responsibility within the community.
A key component of the initiative is its rigorous vetting process, particularly in Israel, where the organization works closely with local municipalities to ensure that assistance reaches families who are truly in need. Support is tailored to each family’s specific circumstances, providing essential resources for the holiday.
This year, the campaign places a special focus on orphans, widows, and bereaved families who have suffered profound loss during the war, ensuring they are supported with dignity and care during this sensitive time.

Last year, the campaign raised over $2 million, directly impacting thousands of families. This year’s effort seeks to build on that impact and expand its reach even further.
“It has been incredibly heartwarming to witness the community come together to support fellow Bukharian Jews in such a meaningful way,” said Chagit Sofiev Leviev. “This initiative reflects who we are — a community that stands together in times of need.”
Leviev added, “100% of all donations go directly to families in need. Mr. Lev Leviev personally covers all administrative costs and has been matching this campaign year after year, ensuring that every dollar raised reaches those we are here to support.”
All funds raised will go directly toward providing essential holiday support. Assistance is distributed in the form of direct financial aid, allowing each family to purchase what they personally need for Passover and prepare for the holiday with dignity, security, and independence.
